Years ago, it was easy to buy screens. There was just one screen. No choices. That made buying them simple but it didn’t always give you want you wanted.

Today, screens provide protection from insects, the sun, and safeguard the environment. Each type of screen offers you many other choices in terms of transparency and color.     As we’ve discussed there are lots of different types of screen mesh, each one providing a different benefit. Sun protection. Insect protection. Some provide more than one benefit. For example, you can have solar (sun) protection and insect protection in one screen mesh fabric. Here are

    is currently the most popular screening. It has better visibility, stays cleaner and does not rust like many other types of mesh. It’s available in two colors: charcoal and grey.

There are three types of fiberglass screen mesh— fine, standard and heavy-duty grades. Each grade has a different purpose.
 
      Fine fiberglass screening is best to use if you need to keep out lots of small insects.

Standard Fiberglass screening is generally used in new houses and is long lasting if properly taken care of.

Heavy-duty fiberglass screening is typically used in larger windows where screens need to be strong.
   
    is stronger than fiberglass mesh. It’s benefits include being rust-resistant and non-sagging. Protective coating can help withstand corrosion. Available in three colors: aluminum, charcoal and black.  
    offers durable, long-lasting screen protection from cats and dogs that scratch, climb or jump on the doors. It’s strong enough to even withstand active kids’ climbing and kicking. Constructed of heavy-duty, vinyl-coated polyester, it‘s heavier and stronger than regular screening. While it’s made “tough.” it is not industrial looking as a grill or steel mesh.  
    is very popular for windows that have south or west facing windows. They work by stopping the sun’s rays before hitting the glass. This causes a heat reduction (as much as 90%) and energy savings as much as 30%. They come in a number of colors as well as different intensities for more or less sun protection.  
    is mesh screening with interwoven detection wires that not only keep bugs out but also set off your integrated alarm system if an intruder tampers with them. Home security window screens are a much more attractive alternative to window bars, providing both ventilation and light, while keeping out bugs, animal or human intruders.
