SCREEN DOORS:

Tashmans has a wide selection of screen doors for most every door application.
Swing out, swing in, french, sliding, retractable? Which screen door is right for your application?

SWINGING ALUMINUM SCREEN DOORS:

Swinging aluminum screen doors are great for their durability, low cost and wide selections of designs. They are easy to maintain and are readily available. There are many standard colors to choose from as well as types of screen mesh and grill options to decorate and protect your door.
What is important in selecting a screen door is the type of frame that you choose.
A screen door is only as good as it’s frame.  Screen doors with extruded frames are the strongest and will withstand heavy use.  Roll form metal screen doors are good if they have sufficient gauge thickness.  A minimum of .040 gauge metal is what we recommend. This will give your door increased durability, but will still be reasonably priced.

We do not recommend any doors with .025 gauge metal. This is a cheap door that will not last.  However, if you are only going to be using the screen door infrequently or for a short time, it will work.

ALUMINUM SLIDING SCREEN DOORS:

Sliding screen doors work best if they are made of a strong extruded frame.  Tashman’s has with many frame strengths, colors, and extrusions to best fit you door frame.

Sliding doors have two very important components other than the frame.  The wheels and the lock are the most often broken on an interior door, so it is important that you purchase a door with a metal handle and metal ball bearing wheels.

WOOD SCREEN DOORS:

Many people enjoy the feel of a traditional wood screen door.  It can be painted to match your home’s existing trim, so it will blend into your door way or can be used to add it’s distinction if you so desire.  Wood screen doors come in a variety of wood types, including:   pine, douglas fir, mahogany, or oak to name a few.  The least expensive is pine and the most common is douglas fir.  If you are staining the door, the more exotic wood types will look the best.
It is very important to always finish your door right away. The largest problem with wood screen doors is that they warp when not properly finished.  At Tashman’s we offer painting services to complete the finished look you are seeking for  you wood screen door.

There are many types of decorative hardware to choose from to accent your door, which come in several decorative finishes including:  oil rubbed bronze, satin nickel, brass, black, and antique brass.

RETRACTABLE SCREEN DOORS:

Retractable screen doors are a great solution for out swinging french doors and doors where you do not want to constantly see a screen.
There are many different manufactures of retractable screens. We have tried them all.  The one we recommend is the clearview sceen door. It has standard features that the other companies do not offer (or charge more for).  The door is fully enclosed to protect the door from dirt and debris when not in use.  It also comes with a tensioner that keeps the door from slaming at no additional cost to you.

Any and all retracatable screen doors need to be kept clean. If they are not maintained they will malfunction.  Clean and oil you door monthly and it will last with out trouble for a long time.
